cpsrvd - keeps re-starting ?? (11.54.0.16)
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone can help me with this recently started issue, or if you have any experience with this....
I have noticed that I am getting the following "repeating" status notices in my /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log:
This keeps repeating, but was not present in these error_logs until very recently, last couple of weeks. Usually this repeats about 8 to 15 times every hour. I have looked through the forums but can't quite see any threads relating to whether this is a recent "update" issue or a bug?? The server seems to be functioning ok (many WordPress sites) and is updated to the latest releases for centOS and WHM/cPanel and mySQL. I would really appreciate anyone's feedback or help, thank you very much. - Robin.

Hi everyone, Just to update this thread, the great guys at cPanel support resolved the issue. I had a service partner tweak my server a few weeks ago, and they modified my settings as detailed below, which caused the re-starting of the cpsrvd every 5 minutes or so! See below... I believe that this was caused by having "Dormant Services" enabled for cpsrvd in "Tweak Settings" (WHM "Home "Server Configuration "Tweak Settings). This is described as: "Use of the dormant service feature will decrease memory use. When a service is idle for 5 minutes, it will unload itself from memory, leaving a tiny "listening"" service in place. The reduction in memory consumption is offset by a delay in fulfilling the initial request when dormant since full service must then be activated." Additional information is available at Tweak Settings - Software - Documentation - cPanel Documentation I have disabled it for cpsrvd, and will continue to monitor for the next couple of hours and will keep you updated if there are any developments.
This issues is now resolved, and hopefully this thread will help anyone with similar experiences & symptoms.0 -
Hello :) I am happy to see the issue is now resolved. Thank you for updating us with the outcome. Here's the document again for anyone else that notices this issue in their cPanel error log: Tweak Settings - Software - Documentation - cPanel Documentation Dormant services This setting configures the system to unload idle services from memory after two minutes of inactivity, and then loads listening devices that correspond to it. This reduces memory usage, but delays responses from dormant services. You can enable this behavior for the following services: [LIST] - cpdavd " cPanel's WebDav daemon.
- cphulkd " cPanel's brute force protection daemon.
- cpsrvd " The cPanel & WHM service manager daemon.
Thank you.0
