    Hello :) Please run the following command and let us know if the issue persists:
    /scripts/restartsrv_cpanel_php_fpm restart
    This is possibly related to internal case CPANEL-4304. Thank you.

    As per a suggestion received from one member of Webhostingtalk.com, I have disabled PHP-FPM for Cpanel service which has resolved the issue.

    Hello, Internal case CPANEL-4304 is open to investigate reports of unresponsive webmail applications that correspond with "Failed to connect fpm socket" error messages in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log. Could anyone else experiencing this issue let us know if there's a high file descriptor count? You can do so by running this command:
    grep -B1 "fpm is running" /usr/local/cpanel/logs/php-fpm/error.log
    You will see entries such as:
    using inherited socket fd=1681
    We would like to know the number after "fd=" in the recent entries in the log file when Webmail is unresponsive. Thank you.

    My lasta FD just before the problem is 3289. [10-Mar-2016 11:08:02] NOTICE: using inherited socket fd=3289, "/var/cpanel/php-fpm/sorosegamil/sock"

    To update, case CPANEL-4304 is still open at this time. The current workaround remains to restart the "cpanel_php_fpm" service, or to disable PHP-FPM service for cPanel Daemons via "WHM >> Service Manager" if the issue persists. Thank you.

    I have this same problem. cpanel_php_fpm is already disabled. Your workaround does not work. Issue occurs with v54 and v56.

    Hello, There's new problem started on my dedicated server. My clients can login to cPanel without problem. But they can't login to webmail. After you click login to webmail, browsers starting to wait, but page does not responding. I tried to restart php-fpm but it didn't work. So I disabled php-fpm from services section, it started to work. I think there's a bug or something is wrong with php-fpm. Is there any disadvantage to use it without php-fpm service? Or is there a fix?

    PHP-FPM has been implemented in the cPanel only for internal applications such as Horde, Roundcube, phpMyAdmin, SquirrelMail etc to improve their performance so there will be no major disadvantage to use those applications without php-fpm.

    A resolution for internal case CPANEL-4304 is available as of cPanel version 56.0.5: Fixed case CPANEL-4304: Implement an aggressive reconnect strategy for php-fpm Version 56 is currently only available in the "Current" and "Edge" build tiers: cPanel & WHM Versions and the Release Process - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation The resolution is also scheduled for inclusion in a future build of cPanel version 54, but no specific time frame is currently available. Thank you.
