Hello :) Could you verify if you are asking about password protecting a directory with Apache, or the passwords utilized for access to cPanel/WHM? Thank you.

It is password protecting a directory with a username and password. It is not about the initial access to cPanel. However, it would be good to know the nitty gritty details behind what is allowed in a cPanel initial access password too, as that one I have not tried to make so over the to secure yet, but will be working on that next. (I didn't want to lock me out of my site, so thought that if I worked on directories first, that I should be safer.) Thanks!

The information you are seeking is from Apache as opposed to cPanel. They document the guidelines at: htpasswd - Manage user files for basic authentication - Apache HTTP Server Version 2.4 Password Formats - Apache HTTP Server Version 2.4 As far as cPanel/WHM, you may find this feature helpful if your goal is to add security to logins: Two-Factor Authentication - Documentation - cPanel Documentation Thank you.

I found out that the password over the directory can only be 50 characters long. Any longer and it tosses a "too weak of a password" error.
