Proper email server settings?

Hello I just read in some other thread here that 'mail.example.com' is a default mail server in Cpanel, but I' not sure it's so in my server because the link 'mail.example.com' shows a default Cpanel page ( Sorry term ) . How can I specify ( in a clear and proved way ) what is the current mail server that responsible on my website outcoming and incoming messages.... 'example.com' or 'mail.example.com' ? .... and if it was 'example.com', how to change it to 'mail.example.com' ?

  Hello :) There's no requirement to use a specific mail server name. The domain name simply needs to point to the server's IP address for users to connect to it in their email client. The "mail" subdomain is configured by default, however keep in mind that it's not intended as a URL for webmail. Webmail access is available via the "domain.tld/webmail" URL or with the "webmail.domain.tld" proxy subdomain URL. Thank you.
