Gather Update Logs Failure, Server Crash

Our server went down early this morning and a simple reboot took care of the issue. After reviewing the cpanel error_log. The last known process before the crash is below [2016-04-11 01:22:04 -0400] info [gather-update-logs] Assertions failed [2016-04-11 01:23:22 -0400] info [gather-update-logs] Cannot send file /usr/local/cpanel/logs/update_analysis/2016-04-11T05:21:09Z.tar.gz to updatelogdrop.cpanel.net. [2016-04-11 01:23:22 -0400] info [gather-update-logs] Failed to send data to cPanel [2016-04-11 02:00:01 -0400] warn [backup] Backup Not Enabled (This can be adjusted in WHM => Backup => Backup Configuration) at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup line 703. bin::backup::backup_enabled(0) called at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup line 171 bin::backup::run("bin::backup") called at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup line 104 I just enabled the the backup in WHM, but am wondering what the exact cause of the crash is? Is it due to the gather-update-logs failing? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Hello :) You may also want to review /var/log/messages and /var/log/dmesg to see the output in those files before the system stopped responding. Were you able to compare the time the server stopped responding to the timestamps of those messages in the cPanel error log? Thank you.

    After reviewing var/log/messages it looks as if the last entry was at 4:00:17 and the next entry isn't until the server was successfully rebooted (11:35:18).

    I have quite a few entries just like these above that. The var/log/dmesg log is empty.

    That suggests the messages in the cPanel error log are unrelated to your system failing to respond. You may want to monitor both /var/log/messages and /var/log/dmesg to determine if anything out of ordinary is logged over the next few days.
