Hello, You can find a list of the default WordPress files for comparison at: WordPress Files " WordPress Codex The following feature in cPanel 58 should address this concern going forward: Site Publisher backup tarballs cPanel's documentation.
You can review the full cPanel 58 release notes at:0 -
Hi! I have the same problem and I removed that you said, but I also have some more files. Do I have to remove the others? Thank you!! 0 -
You should be able to move every one of those directories inside your public_html/, except the cgi-bin directory. When in doubt, back up what you want to remove, first. If nothing breaks you can delete it later. 0 -

I have done all this and still my website only shows the Site Publisher page when it should show something else. What could be wrong? 0 -
What should it be exactly? The index.html as mentioned above, is the default main page of the Site Publisher. Rename the index.html in your public_html/ directory to, dead.index.html, does your website work now? (assuming your new website uses an index.php here) 0 -
I have the same problem as quoted above, I accidently used this great tool of adding a simple template 'under construction' from the tool Site Publisher, thinking it would be a good idea, whilst I create my wordpress site behind it. However it is now just over riding my wordpress site and I cannot see the previews etc.. I read the solution too but i hardly understood anything. So I request you to help me out in a detailed manner. I am new to this thing and would be needing frequent help from you guys. I anticipate a solution soon! Thanks 0 -
Hi @VInay Nair, We now document more information about the files that are replaced under the "Files" section at: Site Publisher - Documentation - cPanel Documentation You'd need to remove the files referenced in my earlier post from the website's document root (e.g. /home/user/public_html/) and then move the files that were automatically backed up from the "/home/user/site_publisher/backups/" directory to the "/home/user/public_html/" directory using FTP or cPanel's File Manager option. Thank you. 0 -
So should i delete the site_publisher folder --> backups & configurations? Or do i delete the 2 and some other files under the public_html ( as per original post -index.html etc). Much appreciated 0 -
Hello @Warren Bartram, If your goal is to completely remove the Site Publisher data and the website files associated with the Site Publisher feature, then you'd remove the files and directories noted in my initial response in addition to the site_publisher directory itself. Thank you. 0 -
I just ran into a client who wanted to change / remove one of their site publisher sites.. but couldn't. Why doesn't this have a delete / remove function? It REALLY needs one. 0 -
Hi Steve, I encourage you to open a feature request for an option in the UI that automatically removes all files generated through the Site Publisher feature: Submit A Feature Request Please feel free to post the link to the feature request to this thread once it's approved. Thank you. 0 -
Hi. I have deleted all my file under public_html folder even site_publisher folder files, but my site is still same. Actually, for some days, I want to show a message that "Site is under construction" but my fault I have published a template and that was not full relevant. Please help me. 0
