Improvement on cpRemote (saves more disk space)
Hi there!
Upon testing cpRemote, I discovered a major flaw: it keeps a copy of each retention backup on the destination server. The editor of cpRemote wouldn't do anything about it (or it's placed at the bottom of their feature requests list), so I took the matter into my own hands and created a script which drastically reduces the disk space required, in a fashion similar to rdiff-backup: instead of copying data between retentions, it creates hard links.
It has not been tested a lot, but worst case is it won't work and won't save you disk space. It does not interfere with cpRemote.
The project is hosted on github/dietcpremotebackup.
I hope this will help you :)
