It seems we have the same problem and we are cautious of cpanel warning: "Do not use WHM-to-WHM two-way sync configurations. These configurations may cause DNS errors on your servers."
What you can understand this discussion cpanel reply (nov 2010) I'm confused: Multiple cPanel DNS-Only Servers On each web server ==> WHM > Configure Cluster ==> add ns1, ns2, etc. to that area with "Synchronize Changes" for the role Nameservers (ns1, ns2, etc.) ==> WHM > Configure Cluster ==> add each web server to that area with "Standalone" for the role

    - Website is hosted on host01.domain.com - Support Tech edits zone file on behalf of customer on host02.domain.com - New changes to the zone file propagates to all cluster servers but not back to host01.domain.com - Support Tech/customer edits zone file on host01.domain.com overwriting the changes made on host02.domain.com

Hello, It's advised to only edit the zone on the server where the domain name is hosted, as opposed to other servers in the cluster where the zone file is listed under the ""WHM >> Edit DNS Zone" feature. I believe a feature request related to what you are seeking is open at: Ownership and access control of zones in the dns server. Feel free to vote and add your feedback to this feature request. Thank you.
