Weekly Backups Twice As Long
There must be an obvious answer I'm missing... but I've got to ask:
Why do weekly backups take twice as long as daily?
We're running SSD drives with low load, compressed backups, and transporting to Amazon S3.
Surely a daily is taken, copied to weekly, and transported?
Ah... does transport to S3 have to happen twice to get a copy in the daily and weekly dirs? Surely not, surely there's an S3 API command to copy within S3?

Hello :) I am not sure about the question. AFAIK, the weekly backups are generated independently on the specified day. Hence natuarally it takes the same amount of time as of the daily backup. If you have configured it for remote backup, then the data transfer time too will be involved and I hope this is the reason for the time delay. Besides server performance issues such as load, low memory etc. too can attribute to lengthier backup time. 0 -
Hello, You can review the logs in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup for a specific backup generation to get a better idea of what's happening when the backup process takes longer than expected.
