email backup
I have switched email clients to gmail, but my hosting provider was kind enough to download my entire Cpanel for me. I'm not sure what to do with it however. I have the email files with names like
1394722507.H918072P26xxx.gator3193.hostgator.com,S=563690/2,Sabde
How can I view the emails? Or better yet, is there a way to upload these to the new email server? Thanks

Hello, Do you still have access to the email account with these emails via POP3/IMAP, or do you only have an archive with the individual emails downloaded to your workstation? Thank you. 0 -
My hosting account has expired. At this point I think it will be easier to just pay for another year. 0 -
First, you should recreate the email accounts on the new server if they do not yet exist. Then, you can manually upload those email files to the account in the appropriate directories via FTP while logged in as the user, and then run the following as "root" from the command line: /scripts/mailperm $username
The following document is intended for manual migrations, but it offers the paths to email data: How to Manually Migrate Accounts to cPanel from Unsupported Control Panels - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation. Thank you.0 -
Thank you much for your help. I've got access to cPanel again and will begin migration. 0
