cpanel wont start Read-only file system
I have the same problem, but I have one more:
When I enter this,
root@cpanel [/]# su -l
root@cpanel [~]# fsck -Cy /dev/simfs
fsck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2
e2fsck 1.41.12 (17-May-2010)
fsck.ext2: Operation not permitted while trying to open /dev/simfs
You must have r/w access to the filesystem or be root
And I can not modify any file.
I tryed to modify /etc/sshd/sshd_config --- NO CHANCE. (I'd dezactivated the SSH acces... this is the problem, and I work directly from dedicated server ... but now.... I don't know what to do)
Every file is on "Read-Only"

Hello :), You can not run FSCK on any mounted disk, You will have to boot your server in rescue mode OR single user mode to run FSCK, I will suggest you please discuss this issue with your system admin, They will run fsck on your server. If you want to run force FSCK on the next reboot, You need to create empty file called /forcefsck and reboot your server so that server will run file system check in the next reboot. 0 -
This thread is almost a year old, it's best to start your own thread for issues like this. You'll likely have to work with your datacenter in order to get things fixed here, as you're not going to be able to check the disk while it's online, and writing that file won't likely work, since it's a RO system 0 -
Hello, I've moved this post into it's own thread. As mentioned, you may want to consult with your data center or hosting provider for help with running FSCK on this drive. The command is not intended for mounted drives. Thank you. 0
