DKIM and Third-Party DNS
So my cPanel dedicated server hosts several domains for which we use the default email system. I have SPF and DKIM set.
But I use third parties for DNS, such as CloudFlare and Namecheap, depending on the domain and the amount of traffic it receives.
However, it appears that I cannot transfer the DKIM settings from cPanel (the ones for default._domainkey) to the third-party DNS systems. None of the ones I've tried!
Again, I'm using the cPanel email server here. But the DKIM for the domain aren't being recognized. I checked with Gmail and iCloud, and both indicate that DKIM failed.
So is there any guidance for making this work properly?
Peace,
Gene

Create the identical records on the third-party DNS servers, and copy and paste the record contents manually. There is no mechanism to do this automatically unless the cPanel server is your dns server. 0 -
As explained above, I've tried this. I copied the identical record (copy/paste) from the cPanel DNS to the other DNS. It did not work. That's the problem. Peace, Gene 0 -

Hello, Could you let us know the specific error message you receive? Also, please review the following threads regarding the addition of DKIM records at certain providers: Generate 1024-bit DKIM keys How to Enter DKIM record into DNS Zone Thank you.0 -
I correctly pasted the code into the CloudFlare TXT recored. I made it mirror the one in the cPanel DNS settings, except that the quote before and after isn't carried through. So are you saying I need to switch to 1024-bit keys? Peace, Gene 0 -
Hello, CloudFlare offers a guide on adding DKIM records through their DNS management interface at: How do I add DKIM records? It includes information about which characters you must remove when pasting the record. Thank you. 0 -
Yes, I'm aware of the essentials, but I had to work with a cPanel tech to get at the actual code to use for third-party DNS. Peace, Gene 0 -
Would you mind posting the specific changes that were required, or the ticket number, so we can update this thread with the changes that were required to get the DKIM record added through CloudFlare? Thank you. 0
