Delete DNS Zone and email ability?

How can I properly delete the DNS zone when CPanel server is used only for web hosting on the domain? When I attempt to email the user from another domain the message bounces. Where else is Cpanel mangling the email? What I would like cpanel to do is lookup the MX correctly and forward the email to the correct server.

  The docs might be helpful to you, assuming you have the MX editor available on the cPanel account's Features List:

  I deleted the DNS zone so I can't edit it.

  You might want to recreate it and use that tool for your needs instead.

  I use an external DNS for this domain. I removed it from /etc/localdomains and added it to /etc/remotedomains but it wouldn't surprise me if cpanel decided to automatically break it at some point in the future.
