Spam lists of 1000s to be blacklisted

Hi guys and fellow hosting providers Quick question. What do you guys do when a customer requests you block 1000s of email addresses. Do you just go ahead and block it for him for his account? Do you do that for every client on the same server requesting it? Will it not slow down email processing. We use SSD infrastructure so it is quite fast but I'm sure the mail processing can still be affected if we allow 1000s of emails to be blacklisted as every email must now be checked againt every blacklisted email address. Customer states his previous Host allowed him to add over 2400 email addresses if not more to a blacklist. He is a new client and probably has had bad spam coming through from the previous host due to their bad spam management techniques I guess and who may just be working on blacklisting and whitelisting addresses and not really improving their spam rules. What if we get another client asking this and again and again. We really want to help the client but do you really think we should add his full list and then make it a OK for other customers to do the same when they want large lists to be added to servers? What do you think.

  No, I don't. What purpose would blocking you@hotmail, me@hotmail, sam@yahoo, sally@yahoo, jim@gmail, joe@gmail, serve? A properly configured and secured server should be able to manage spam ok. If a user's email is on many spammer lists, sometimes killing that email account all together should be considered. IMHO. ;)
