Installing cPanel on internal SD card
I am upgrading some of our older servers and the new servers have several internal SD card slots and USB ports (for flash drives). Is it OK to install the OS (CentOS) and cPanel on an SD card (or flash drive)? That leaves all the drives in the system purely for user data.
I would definitely have logs written to somewhere else. Is there anything else I am missing and/or is this not a good idea?

cPanel installs things in various areas, so no, that wouldn't work. In addition, as far as I'm aware (and this was made known to me a couple years ago, so it might be incorrect now), if trying to use a symlink (the only way you could get this to work), cPanel would break things and not function properly, so there's that to consider. Best option? Install it to your server directly. 0 -

The way I would do it would be to mount each directory as a separate mount point (we do this at my office on non-cPanel servers, mainly so logs aren't stored on a RAID 1 drive), so symlinks wouldn't be a problem.0 -
Hello, Yes, you can setup multiple partitions, and configure /home on a separate type of drive, if you prefer. Let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you. 0 -
As long as you're not using symlinks, this might work. Setup the partitions /var/cpanel and /usr/local/cpanel at the very minimum. I'd expect there'd be more that need to be added, and you'll need a pretty reasonable sized card. 0
