Translating junk file messages
I am trying to understand why all the mail from a whitelisted address is being placed in the junk folder.
in the directory
mail/mydomain.org/username/.Junk/cur
There is a file with this name:
1466807023.M873552P805427.cp2.example.com,S=710,W=731:2,S
Size: 710 bytes
Permissions: 640
I assume s=710, w-731:2,s
or
permission 640
would tell me why the mail is being characterized as junk. I cannot find any information on these indicators in the documentation.

Hello, You can open the file to view the message, and search for that message in "WHM >> Mail Delivery Reports" to look for more information about why it was classified as JUNK: "WHM >> Email " Mail Delivery Reports" The option is documented at: Mail Delivery Reports - Documentation - cPanel Documentation Thank you. 0 -
Thank you for your prompt response. Alas, the delivery report shows a test email as delivered and accepted, but it was moved immediately to Junk, despite spam assassin being turned off and there being no forwarding rules involved that I can see. 0 -
Could you verify if any filters are enabled for this account? You can find documentation on the filter options at: Global Filters - Documentation - cPanel Documentation Email Filters - Documentation - cPanel Documentation Thank you. 0 -
There are NO global email filters set, and NO email filters set. This is the complete entry for a message that went to junk this morning: log informationL 1467138640.M609540P805427.cp2.silcon.com,S=587,W=604:2, permissions 640 (some earlier messages are market permissions 660) Return-path: Envelope-to: paul@mydomain.org Delivery-date: Tue, 28 Jun 2016 11:30:38 -0700 Received: from [::1] (port=59290 helo=cp2.silcon.com) by cp2.silcon.com with esmtpa (Exim 4.87) (envelope-from ) id 1bHxmQ-000iAG-Cq for paul@mydomain.org; Tue, 28 Jun 2016 11:30:38 -0700 MIME-Version: 1.0 Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2016 11:30:37 -0700 From: marlow@mydomain.org To: paul@mydomain.org Subject: june 28 test Message-ID: <24142de8eb6e70ac8b5a6b9cf2c1d214@mydomain.org> X-Sender: marlow@mydomain.org User-Agent: Roundcube Webmail/1.1.40 -
Your access level is listed as "Website Owner". Do you have root access to this system? If so, could you search for one of the messages that was moved to the Junk folder in /var/log/exim_mainlog and let us know the output in CODE tags and without real domain names or IP addresses? Here's an example command: exigrep user@domain /var/log/exim_mainlog
Thank you.0 -
I am the website owner, but apparently, I do not have access to /var/log. There is a var directory in my root, but I drilled all the way down to var/cpanel/styled/current_style and the directory is empty. I tried logging on via telnet, but cannot do so. 0 -

That suggests you only have access to the cPanel account, and you are accessing SSH as the cPanel account username. You can report the issue to your web hosting provider, who will have "root" access to the entire server. Thank you.0 -
At the behest of my web hosting provider, I cut off IMAP access to the account from my iPhone. I don't want to mention the name of the ap, since it may not be their fault. In any case, that fixed the problem! Perhaps this "one address is being sent to junk" problem has a more generic solution: try cutting off imap access from other clients. 0 -
Hello, I'm happy to see you were able to address the issue. Thank you for updating us with the outcome. 0
