5 second+ load times on static files through Apache
Hi everyone,
I've installed WHM on RHEL 6 and created a single cPanel user account.
After deploying I noticed extremely slow load times, some examples:
loadingAnimationgif (4kb) 7.87 seconds (failed)
tw-sack.min.js (3.5kb) 6.56 seconds
shield-sprite-16.png (1.3kb) 6.04 seconds
This causes the pages to load extremely slow. The load on the server due to website traffic is nearly non existent because the URL hasn't been used before at all (and logs show no traffic).
The server runs on a hypervisor with 1GB of RAM and a single CPU.
What could be the cause of this major slowdown? It's my first time installing and configuring WHM. Did I miss any settings? I changed the DNS because it felt like some slow resolving was happening but changing to OpenDNS didn't speed anything up.
The slowness also exists on the FTP connection to the cPanel account. However, when I connect over SSH to the root user, upload speeds are excellent. Similiary, WHM panel performs very well, while the website does not. It seems like cPanel is throttling the user account somehow?
Any help is much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Rick Lamers

Check your own connection to the server. The latency is likely to be there 0 -
