Here new generic modsecurity rules for shared hosting as service. Rules loaded by SecRemoteRules directive, so modsecurity 2.9.x version needed to use these rules. Before we was lot off hacked customer websites, but now almoust zero. Working with good ex. wordpress, joomla and drupal sites. We using these rules over 20 servers, and everything works fine.
