EA4 - auto upgrade via cron
I haven't migrated to EA4 yet, so I'm still using EA3 in all my servers. I am planning a migration soon.
One thing I can't find in the documentation, is if EA4 can auto upgrade to latest apache/php via a cron job or via upcp, without the admin's intervention. Is this even possible?
Thank you.

Hi, One of the main advantages of EA4 is automatic updates, which happen nightly with UPCP (it basically runs $(yum update) ). As long as you have RPMUP enabled (unless you've explicitly disabled it in the update settings), you will get EA4 updates automatically. I hope this helps! 0 -
Jacob, Can you please clarify something for me. These updates, via RPMUP/UPCP/YUM, are they automatically installed and Apache is restarted to the latest version? Or is that an extra step that I need to take care of? Thank you. 0 -
That's all handled for ya. We have hooks that cause Apache to restart on package upgrades, it's all transparent and automatic. 0 -
Thanks Jacob, now things are much clearer :) I'm asking because the documentation isn't very clear about this. Previously with EA3, we did get updates for EA3 but that didn't mean much, because we still had to recompile Apache to get the "update" live on the system. I think its time to start my migration to EA4! 0
