Does cPanel require Apache?

I have a simple question: Does cPanel require Apache, or can it also be run on, for example nginx? I understand that Apache is installed with cPanel, but I'm wondering if it can run with another OS. Thanks in advance for the info.

  On the planing of cpanel team, but more time is needed. Stand-alone nginx supported as an alternative to Apache Nginx proxied to Apache (not standalone Nginx)

  Hello, Native support for Nginx is not yet available, but feel free to vote and add feedback to the existing feature requests at: Nginx proxied to Apache (not standalone Nginx) Stand-alone nginx supported as an alternative to Apache Also note that some third-party plugins will allow you to run Nginx on a cPanel server. You can search our forums with the term "nginx" to see user-feedback on these plugins. Thank you.
