Issue with email Hosted on Separate Server

Hello, i have a client that that want to keep it mails on a different server, but his domain and website will be hosted on my server, my question is how to properly make sure that his server is the one receiving the mails ? So far what i have been doing i made in the Dns Records an A entry for mail that goes to the server that he provided then i went and modified the MX entry from domaina.com to mail.domaina.com, i am sorry if this issues was addressed before but i did not seem to find enough information to consider that i've done is the right way. thank you very much

  Hello, This is all that's required. Make sure you also choose "Remote Mail Exchanger" under "Email Routing" when modifying the MX records in cPanel or WHM. Thank you.
