Upgrading cPanel 11.25 to 11.56 CentOS 5

Hi all, I've discovered one of our clients is running cPanel in a VPS and that it hasn't been updated since around 2010! It's currently running cPanel 11.25 on CentOS 5. We will likely end up installing a new VPS with CentOS 7 and the latest version of cPanel, but in the mean time I thought I would try to update cPanel so that it is at least current-ish (11.56) - plus we can then use the Transfer Tool to help move across the system configuration.   "The RPM database may be corrupt." run yum update if you get errors you may need to rebuild the database

  ]
  • Remove RPM"s locks (if present): rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
  • Rebuild RPM"s database: rpm -vv --rebuilddb
  • Check if it worked: yum update

  I've set up a new VPS and am in the process of transferring accounts across manually - it's probably easier than trying to upgrade from 11.25 (although it'd be impressive if it could still be done!). A fresh start is likely better anyway. Thanks though for the suggestion, Owen
