Advice requested about latest new features
I have a VPS running CENTOS 6.8 x86_64 virtuozzo " WHM 58.0 (build 25)
When I log into WHM I now get a Feature Showcase screen that asks me to enable or decline two new features - "Apache: UserDir Protection" and "Make document roots in the public_html directory"
The first one already has the enable button ticked, whereas the second one is set on "no thanks".
I don't really know what these two things do, so have no idea of the consequences of enabling or declining them. I do use addon domains, so it sounds like I should decline "Make document roots in the public_html directory" ?
How will it affect the use of VPS though if I enable "UserDir Protection" ? Will I notice any changes, or is it just a security measure that goes on behind the scenes?
Hope someone can advise. :)

Hello, 1. Regarding "Apache: UserDir Protection", the option is documented at:
You can find information about additional new features in cPanel 58 at:0 -
Thanks for the links. It seems quite complicated, but if I've understood the info correctly, it's saying that websites using mod_rewrite in htaccess won't work correctly if using mod_userdir protection. As I'm using Wordpress I guess I should say "no thanks" to this feature. 0 -

Apache"s mod_userdir allows users to view their sites by entering a tilde (~) and their username as the URI on a specific host. The Apache mod_userdir Tweak interface in WHM allows you to disable the mod_userdir functionality for your users, or to restrict usage to certain hosts. Generally, it's a good idea to prevent Mod_Userdir access if you don't need it. Instructions for preventing access are found at:0
