Having problems connecting email clients

I have always gotten pre-configured cPanel accounts in the past that had all email and configured completed for us, but now we are growing and have gotten our own VPS that we manage WHM/cPanel now. We setup our cPanel accounts and added the emails to the accounts and every thing seem to be sending just fine thru the webmail, but when we attempt to access the server remotely to send receive email using SMTP, POP or IMAP we are not having any luck. Is there any additional configuration we need to setup to get this to work? Firewall maybe? Also, where are the WHM settings for the EMail Server? Thanks for the help in Advance.

  SELF SOLVED by going to email accounts, "Client Setup" and go the settings.
