    well you have to have the spare space on your disk to make the partition bigger

    500 GB disk is available. But VolGroup-lv_root partition filled 100%. How do I upgrade it field

    looking at the df image I would say he has 0 space but I am just guessing You cant add more space if you do not have any 439 G in the Home partition = 489G I would say they pretty much wipes it out

    You have at least two options. Clean up you root partition or make it bigger (as you did with your writing in the initial post). Both of these are basic sysadmin chores. I would suggest going for option one, as option two will only give you temporary relief as option two does not fix the problem. Something is filling up your fs. So I would suggest fixing that permanently next to cleaning it up. If needed make a separate partition for the culprit.
