Problem Monitoring MariaDB Server in WHM
I've switched from MySQL to MariaDB 10.2 using this procedure:
How to Replace MySQL with MariaDB - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation
Everything went smoothly and it works great. However, when I go to WHM > Service Status, it says that the MySQL Server is down although MariaDB is running fine. WHM is also unable to restart the MariaDB server.
Any idea?

Hello, Could you verify the steps you took to upgrade to MariaDB? For instance, per that document, it states: We strongly recommend that you use WHM's MySQL or MariaDB Upgrade interface (Home >> Software >> MariaDB/MySQL Upgrade)
Thank you.0 -

Please see my original post for the link to the procedure used to switch to MariaDB.0 -
Could you let us know if the issue persists after following the instructions in the other thread? Thanks. 0 -
Sorry for the late reply to this thread. Okay so here are the updates: I've finally reverted back to MySQL successfully. Of course I had a copy of /var/lib/mysql that was taken before the upgrade to MariaDB. I have uninstalled MariaDB 10.2 using Yum and then removed the mariadb repository file from /etc/yum.repo.d I have reinstalled MySQL this way: /scripts/update_local_rpm_versions --edit target_settings.MySQL56 installed /scripts/check_cpanel_rpms --fix --targets=MySQL50,MySQL51,MySQL55,MySQL56 Everything went fine and WHM was able to monitor the service successfully. So then I tried to upgrade to MariaDB 10.1 (the cPanel supported version) through WHM. At first, the upgrade failed saying that MariaDB packages conflicted with MySQL56 packages. So I did: /scripts/update_local_rpm_versions --edit target_settings.MySQL56 uninstalled /scripts/check_cpanel_rpms --fix --targets=MySQL50,MySQL51,MySQL55,MySQL56 I restarted the upgrade through WHM and it all went fine. The MariaDB server is up and the websites are running fine. WHM is now able to monitor MariaDB successfully. 0 -
Hello @StephaneB, I'm happy to see it's now working well! Thank you for taking the time to let us know the outcome. 0
