Cleaning logs and freeing up space
Hello,
Currently in my server /dev/mapper/VolGroup-lv_root is 95% full and this is causing problem in database connection and site goes down.
I read in the forum posts that we need to cleanup the log files. So i was wondering will i be able to clear log files in server through apache?
I have root access to whm, but i do not know why, I cannot login as root using putty, it just shows connection refused and i cannot run linux commands.
I am beginner in linux, and i have been managing my server through whm for last few years. Now i am not getting support from my data center as they ask me for yearly plan and need to pay extra for these support.
So how can i make my server accessible through whm or putty and clear the log files so that i can cleanup space.
Sorry, I was saying is there anyway I can clear log and tmp files from apache without having to login through ssh.
I have access to whm in my dedicated server.

Hi, You have dedicated server then you can able to access server trough putty. First login to WHM and restart the sshd service after that try to access trough putty.Once you can able to server then use below command to calculate the disk space. cd / du -sch *
The above command will show the size of the directories so that you will get Idea which directory use of disk size. Also, refer the link for how to clear Apache error log : Clearing cPanel Error Logs (the one with the cpanel icon Error Log)0 -
Hello, It's important to first determine what's actually taking up the space on that partition. Information about managing your disk space is available at: How to Manage your Hard Drive Space - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation Regarding SSH access, let us know if this thread helps: Root access Thank you. 0
