Why can't LMTP be disabled?

Why do you want to disable LMTP? Exim uses it to deliver locally to Dovecot.

Hi @brooks, I don't necessarily want to disable it, just want to know why I can't - Just for knowledge, really. If I don't use Dovecot/POP3/IMAP (because my business works through Gmail for Work), I wouldn't think it's required?

In addition to my last post, where I said I have no use for webmail/POP/IMAP and all my contact emails are via Gmail for Business, is there any reason Dovecot is needed? And if not, how can I disable Dovecot's Anvil?

As brooks mentioned, LTMP is what Dovecot is now configured to use for local deliveries. While you can not disable LMTP as we have made it "part of" Dovecot, you can disable Dovecot if you do not use the email service. Exim will still handle any inbound emails, and as your using GMAIL, it sounds like you should be able to simply disable Dovecot if desired. You can disable the service in the Service Manager in WHM. Hi @cPMelaniel, I believe Dovecot's anvil is running because Dovecot cannot be fully disabled (because LMTP cannot be disabled). Seems that only Dovecot's IMAP and POP3 services can be disabled. If that's the case (if you don't mind confirming), then that's fine and I'd consider my query answered :) Thanks

Fantastic! That's precisely the confirmation I was after as that explains it the way I was hoping it worked. Thanks @cPanelMichael!
