Domain Hosting and Mail Different Server

I currently have a domain pointing (using GoDaddy) to a hosting server on let's say 123.45.67.89, however I would like the mail to be going to my server (IP: 11.22.33.44). Is such a thing even possible? How would I be able to go ahead and do this? I have changed the MX record in godaddy to smtp.domain.com but it still points to the host IP address.

  Hello, Make sure you setup an "A" record for "smtp.domain.com" pointing to the cPanel server's IP address. Also, ensure the account is created on the cPanel server. Thank you.
