Hello, Try running the following commands and let us know if you notice any issues:
yum clean all yum update /scripts/upcp --force

No difference, still the same error.

Check with yum if your kernel needs updating as cpanel won't update it.
    yum -y update kernel
If it does need a later kernel you will of course need to reboot after installing it.

this is an OpenVZ server so why are you trying to install a kernel there is none
rpm -Uvh --nodeps http://mirror.centos.org/centos-6/6.8/updates/x86_64/Packages/util-linux-ng-2.17.2-12.24.el6_8.1.x86_64.rpm yum update
    should fix you up

This is a Redhat 'bug' - the updated util-linux-ng package has a kernel dependency, however this obviously isn't needed on an OpenVZ VPS Bug 1401203 " util-linux-ng depends on kernel

Hi there, since it's a bug, maybe will be fixed soon, so I dont need to act? I dont feel comfortable to install Linux RPMs manually, I don't have enough knowledge to fix things like this if get broken. The affected server has +100 websites running and I'm afraid to break the server(s). Any considerations? Thank you.

You can still use yum update to install this - nothing needs to be done manually. It just installs the kernel whish isn't used on OpenVZ. You can always remove it afterwards if you wish

Ah, it will install the CentOS kernel but, in fact, OpenVZ will ignore it and boot its kernel?

Yes, you cannot actually use a custom kernel on OpenVZ unlike KVM, etc so it will be ingored

Hello, You may also want to report the issue to your VPS hosting provider if you are not running the hardware node yourself. Thank you.

Hello. cPanel, for this bug, what do you advise?. We wait to solve the problem or update (yum update --skip-broken -y). What is better?

Hello @jvgn, This is a bug with the OS, so you may want to consult with your VPS hosting provider for additional assistance. In the meantime, you could use the following command to update your packages:
    yum update --skip-broken -y
    Thank you.

Hello, I manage couple OpenVZ cPanel servers with kernel: Linux myhostname.com 2.6.32-042stab120.16 #1 SMP Tue Dec 13 20:58:28 MSK 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Also concerned about cPanel update emails: [2017-02-11 21:30:17 +0100] [20095] Error: Package: util-linux-ng-2.17.2-12.24.el6_8.1.x86_64 (updates) [2017-02-11 21:30:17 +0100] [20095] You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem I logged into the server via ssh and just run yum update. I did not even had to use --skip-broken option. All packages is updated. Package util-linux-ng also with no problem.
