Hostname not matching domain
hello
i bought cpanel licenses via ovh.com because i got VPS with them.
when i install cpanel on my vps . the hostname added is : vps12345.ovh.com
however, in ovh.com i did change my Reverse DNS to be our domain ( mx.mydomain.com)
Now i can not send email because : PTR entry point to : mx.mydomain.com and my hostname is : vps123456.ovh.com ( which not maching)
i did try to change my hostname in WHM to become : mx.mydomain.com but cpanel lock me out and i can only use with vps123456.ovh.com in hostname ( for cpanel verification licenses)
- i did try to change Reverse DNS from mx.mydomain.com back to vps123456.ovh.com but it impossible . i try contact OHV and they advice us change to vps123456.ovh.com. [with dot]
if i change to that it seem still not maching with our hostname [without dot]
Any one can advice me please
what should i do not for matching
or can i change anything in "Exim Configuration Manager" which help me can send out email
thank you very much

You need to properly setup the server before you'll be able to send email. You don't have any accounts setup yet do you? Your license is based on the IP address. You should be able to update your hostname and add an A entry for it, via WebHost Manager. Change Hostname - Documentation - cPanel Documentation Once the server is setup properly including setting your hostname, and you've secured things, you should be able to create your Package(s) and add an account. Add a Package - Documentation - cPanel Documentation Create a New Account - Documentation - cPanel Documentation You should ask your Hosting Provider to set your rDNS for you. 0 -
