All Email going through host name

Hi, I have noticed that on my dedicated server which i am using cloudflare free plan for the DNS, that all of my email that i send via SMTP or that i want to connect to via third party client, i must use the hostname.name.tld format to connect. Unlike the instructions in cpanel that say use mail.site.tld i must use the hostname.name.tld or it will not connect. Where would i look as far as docs in order to figure out why its not mail.site.tld ? I have the DNS record set up in cloudflare for mail record. Not sure if this is a WHM setting or maybe something with cloudflare so i thought i would start here.

  Thanks, the problem is that i have all that already. Sorry i should have included this image before.. The email is working fine, i just wonder why i have to use hostname to connect to it.

  Are you setting up your mail using SSL? You will usually use the server hostname to connect via SSL, unless you have a certificate for mail.domain?
