EA4 has multi PHP feature with which you can change the PHP version system wide or for a particular website through MultiPHP manager. For More information on it, go through the below docs. PHP Home - EasyApache 4 - cPanel Documentation

I know but that's not what I'm asking. When you go to EA4 to select php versions etc, in the extensions selection part there is an extension called phpxx-php (xx being 54 55 56 70 71 etc depending on the php version) which does not seem to make any difference whether it's installed or not, the PHP version itself is active either way. So what's this?

Hello, That's the package name for the DSO PHP handler. Installing that package allows you to enable DSO for that particular version of PHP. Thank you.

Oh I see, thank you! It might be a good idea to hint at that in the description.

Hello, Internal case EA-5099 is open to suggest adding DSO to the PHP package name in the EasyApach 4 UI. Updates to that case will be posted on the following thread: Unable to install DSO handler in EA4 Thanks!
