Moving account with protected directory to new server
So I have to move a web hosting account from one VPS to another. Just normal stuff except one folder under public_html called 'members' is password protected. I see the .htaccess file in the folder which points to the actual password file in .htpasswds/public_html/members 'passwd'. Each line of this file contains the user name and a hash of the password.
Will simply copying this file over work? I presume just copying this file to its counterpart location on the new machine won't work because the hash is machine specific. Is that right? If so, how can I avoid having to manually re-enter hundreds of entries?
Thank you.

You should be able to move the account through Copy account function in WHM ... The WHM to WHM migration tool should take care of all the things. 0 -
I have WHM access only on the target machine. 0 -
Hello, Yes, you can manually copy over the file. Ensure the permissions and ownership values on the file match the source server settings. Thanks! 0 -
Worked perfectly. Thanks. I really should have just tried it before asking but I assumed it couldn't be that easy. Silly me! Thanks again. 0 -
I'm happy to see it worked well. Thank you for updating us with the outcome. 0
