Incremental backups with retention higher than one?
Is this possible? While trying to find an answer, I found this thread: Incremental Backups Multiple Retention but I'm unsure if that is saying that it's not currently a feature if using incremental backups, and is only possible if I choose uncompressed/compressed.
I just recently setup backups, but notice I cannot change the backup retention any higher than one. When I mouse over the box, my cursor denotes that the field cannot be changed, however, the field itself is not greyed out as to signify that the option is completely unavailable.
Is there another setting that I need to adjust to allow multiple backups to be saved, while still only performing incremental backups?

That is correct. The Feature is not yet available.0 -

So I only have a choices between backing up the full account every single time, or incremental, but only storing one copy until it's overwritten the next day/week? If so, that seems extremely limiting. Is all it would take is to be unaware of a corruption / hacker for 1 week and 1 day, and I have NO backup to go back to as the weekly and daily backups would all have been overwritten.0 -
You can do full account backups every day of the week. More information can be found in the documentation: Backup Configuration - Documentation - cPanel Documentation 0 -
Yes, but they have only one copy. That means that you are either stuck backing up a full site and the same data over and over again. (Not only time consuming, but wasteful of CPU resources, and will no doubt cause a HDD to be needing to be replaced sooner) or incrementally backing up a site with only one copy per day, per week, per month. Which means if you found corruption a month, and one day later you're SOL, if you found it a week and one day, you are forced to restore a monthly backup. The whole process seems very strict and lacks flexibility towards someone interested in restoring down to the point of corruption or intrusion, and not losing 30 days of work or wasting server resources by doing full backups of 200GB+ sized sites weekly, if not daily. 0 -
Your best bet is to vote for that Feature Request you mentioned above or look for a more robust solution like R1soft for example. 0 -
Multiple Incremental Backups is now in the Edge version: Incremental Backups Multiple Retention 0
