Slow Sites when using Transfer Tool
Hi,
I bought a new server and I am moving some sites to it from the existing server using the "Transfer Tool" and I was only moving around 6 sites where I limited
Number of Transfer Threads: 1
Number of Restore Threads: 2
But as soon as the move began... the site's (already running on the destination server got slow... like 20 seconds to first byte) I only have like 10 sites on there.
My server config is as follows:
Intel Dual Xeon E5-2620 v3 Hexa-Core
24 Cores
64 GB DDR4 Ramn
6 T.B. Sata (I know I should got for SSD).
As per my knowledge, with the above config I should be fine having the load of 10 - 15 and not having to worry about performance at all.
My question to the experts here:
Is my understanding of load and performance true based on the config I have? If so, Is that Rsync or some other utility that takes up all the resources while this is happening and doesn't care about what the load is.
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hello, You should check the disk I/O levels to see if that's the reason for the slow performance. The following thread includes information on how to examine the potential causes of slowness or load issues: Troubleshooting high server loads on Linux servers Thank you.0 -
Thank You... I will definitely look at that one. On a side note, I figure the account that was being moved was around 200 GB with files being 6 GB each being moved at that time... that could/may be the reason? I will post my findings (if any). 0 -

It's possible the size and number of files could be the factor that's leading to the performance issues. You may want to consider manually transferring the larger accounts using the instructions on the following document if that turns out to be the case: How to Manually Transfer an Account Between Servers - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation Thank you.0 -
Yes, Thank you. The files were just redundant backups and I was able to transfer without an issue after removing those files. 0 -
Also, a quick google search does provides that Rsync consumes lots of disk I/O... So, I am going to get off this until I have issues again with this. 0
