Error after upgrading PHP

I have upgraded PHP and with my whmcs billing system I am now getting this error Warning: PDO::__construct(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected the timezone 'UTC' for now, but please set date.timezone to select your timezone. in /home/thewebse/public_html/billing/vendor/illuminate/database/Illuminate/Database/Connectors/Connector.php on line 47 Warning: PDO::__construct(): The server requested authentication method unknown to the client [mysql_old_password] in /home/thewebse/public_html/billing/vendor/illuminate/database/Illuminate/Database/Connectors/Connector.php on line 47 Critical Error SQLSTATE[HY000] [2054] The server requested authentication method unknown to the client Any ideas how to fix this issue? I have spent hours trying to figure it out.
