cPanel account user can't write

I just ran EasyApache to update Apache and PHP on our server. After doing so, cPanel account sites are not able to write to the site folders. For example, if I have a cPanel account with the username "xyz" the website should be able to write to that home directory public_html folder with files chowned to xyz -- but are not able to. If I set a folder to chmod 777, new files written by the site are chowned to nobody:nobody. So somehow the EasyApache updates affected account owner defaults. How can I fix this?

  Hello, Do you know which PHP handler (e.g. suPHP) you were using before, and if it has changed? Are you using EasyApache 3, or EasyApache 4? Thank you.

  If I try to do something that would write to the site directory (create cache files, upload a file, etc.) from within the site (running WordPress), I get Permission denied messages in the error log. Basically the web user (account user name) can't write to the site folder. the web user is now "nobody"

  Hello, To update, it looks like suPHP was disabled. Switching back to suPHP corrected the issue. Thank you.
