In some cases, affected systems might encounter an Apache error message like this after applying the update: /usr/sbin/httpd: symbol lookup error: /lib64/libnsssysinit.so: undefined symbol: PR_GetEnvSecure
To address this issue, simply restart the Apache and FPM services via the following commands:
/scripts/restartsrv_httpd /scripts/restartsrv_apache_php_fpm

    I think this was the cause of our sites being broken this morning, solved by restarting PHP-FPM and Apache. Would it be possible to initiate a restart of these services next time NSS is included in an update?

    Hello, A restart should not be required after an update to a system package such as NSS, and thus the following CentOS bug reports are open to address this issue: 0012937: nss upgrade crashes php processes which curl with ssl - CentOS Bug Tracker 0012935: nss crashing php-fpm process - CentOS Bug Tracker Thank you.

    We experienced the same problem today with under CentOS Linux release 7.3.1611, so I was grateful for your suggestion about the restart what surprisingly helped. kind regard Nico Tillmann
