HTTP athentication problem with PHP

Hello I want to use HTTP athentication in php but $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER"> is always empty. I found this is because of the apache and fast cgi and found a solution for apache with htaccess in this link PHP: HTTP authentication with PHP - Manual But still not working, I put sample code from php.net and still not working here is the sample code link - Removed - cheers.
