Need help with inode issue
We recently had an inodes issue on our dedicated server and over 90% of avail inodes were used for /root partition and we got a critical error email from cpanel.
On detailed check the usage seems to be on this folder
/.cpanel/datastore
In this folder there are thousands of files that look like this
Cpanel::Net::Whois::IP::Cached_x.x.x.x
What are these files and can they be removed ?
The timestamp on these files is also of last year ( 2016 )

Hello @mpkapadia, Could you open a support ticket using the link in my signature so we can take a closer look and see why those cache files were not removed? You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome. Thank you. 0 -
Hi Michael. Ticket opened at Cpanel. Ticket id is : 8303429 Please post outcome on this thread for public view along with what you did to remove those files. I have seen one more server with large number of similar files on that same folder. 0 -
Hello, Internal case CPANEL-11984 was opened to determine the exact purpose of these files, and if they are safe to remove. I'll update this thread with more information from this case as it becomes available. Thank you. 0 -
Hello, To update, these files are created when certain aspects of the product (Greylisting, cPHulkd, SpamAssassin p0f plugin) look up trusted netblocks. It's safe to manually remove these files, and let us know if you notice these files filling up the directory again. Thank you. 0
