Web server logs jumbled - out of order

What kind of condition causes web server traffic logs to not follow chronologically? 45747

  Hello, The entries in the Apache access logs are written as requests are completed. It's possible some requests can take longer to finish, and thus appear in the logs after a request that started later but completed earlier. Thank you.

  Thank you. Another site was under heavy hammering to xmlrpc - brute force passord cracker - causing the load to climb up to ~35 (normal < 1) at this time.
