Database exceeding quota
Dear supporters,

Now I have exceeded my datbase space. The problem is I cant see where in cpanel I have to delete files to get more space again.
Can somone help me with this?

are you in a shared hosting environment or have your own dedicated server ? Still with the error you have mentioned it looks like you are in Cpanel shared hosting environment , how much space do you have hosting the account ? 0 -
I dont know exactly, but its not much. I dont need much space yet. A lot of the data space is consumed by the tmp directory. Like 96mb. Is there a way to delete this? 0 -
Depends whats in it. Go to cPanel > Disk Usage You can scroll down and use the tree to sort by size, just go into the biggest folders and see what you can remove If /tmp is the biggest, its most likely from stats like awstats, analog, etc which you can delete but then your stats will be removed. If you want to take a screenshot of the output from the Disk Usage icon, we can better assist. 0 -
thank you.. this is the screenshot. As you can see it does not show where all the data has gone.. 0 -
Can you screenshot the initial error about the disk being full? Can you also check cPanel and look for "Disk Usage" under statistics and see what your limit is set to? 0 -
250mb the quota limit. There is no actual error, I just can't restore a backup. As you can see in the screenshot in my last post there is also a so called "nobody" that consumes a part of my diskspace. 0 -
250MB I didn't know such limitations still existed ;) Well that is your problem then, there is no room for you to restore a backup since the account is already full. The space in the /tmp folder is being used directly in /tmp not a child folder like /tmp/awstats so there must be files like /tmp/filename taking up the space. Can you screenshot your /tmp folder? I'd probably slap your host and tell them to stop being so chincy on the disk space, its 2017. 0 -
haha i dont think they will accept that.. here is the screenshot op the tmp folder, i cant see where the space has gone 0 -
Don't see the screenshot. If you cannot see any files though, you may not have the option checked to show hidden files which may be the issue. 0 -

Yeah but in File Manager or FTP, click "tmp" in your screenshot, it will open file manager then screenshot. 0 -
okay now i found what is taken up most op my tmp space.. you can see the screenshot in this message. Is it okay do delete the files? 0 -
Yes you can, looks like failed uploads 0 -
thank you.. i still want to restore a back up because I updated wordpress and it ruined my website. Is there a way to do it fast, because it takes so long.. more than a day.. that cant be right.. 0 -
How are you trying to restore it? Which part is taking a day, importing the database? Also what does the backup contain, the files and the database? Just extract the backup on your computer, then go into phpmyadmin, take a backup of the current database, then check all the tables within the database and drop them. Then import the database from the backup. If you need to replace all the files, then you might be better off taking a full account back up now, then removing all the files within the wordpress install, then replace them with the files you have in the backup. 0 -
im trying to restore it withe the back up wizard, just the basicdirectory. the new update of wordpress messed up my website lay-out, so I dont know exactly which files I have to restore in the cpanel 0 -
in the hp area, I can see 2 databases, whcih one should I pick, and how do I back it up? bu exporting it? 0 -
You have to pick the one defined in the wp-config.php script. DB_NAME 0 -
The have the same names accept different numbers behind them. 0 -
Just export the exact name in phpmyadmin that shows in the wp-config.php. This is your backup of your live database in case the backup database fails. 0 -
This is what I see when i open php admin 0 -

Is restoring the entire account due to a style issue the best way to go there? Certainly you could switch to another style while you try and solve the broken style issues.0 -
yes, thats im trying to do now.. looking for a way to solve the problem. Should I regarding this style issue restore just the database or the basic directory? 0 -
Depends, did you make the changes in WP admin side, if so the changes are stored in the database. If you made a change to example a .css file, then you need to restore the files. 0 -
Okay thank you. I tried uploading the mysql database but it doesnt upload anything from my back up file.. which is a tar.gz file.. It says: restoring database, no files uploaded.. 0 -
Not sure if this is helpful to you or not: youtube.com/watch?v=JifNSSseEnQ 0 -
If you are doing it via phpmyadmin then you cannot do the tar.gz file, you have to extract that, and find the database which would be either a .sql or .sql.gz file, otherwise you have to provide the exact steps you are taking because its somewhat of a guessing game. 0 -

I restored the database through mysql, but it didnt solve the problem. SO I guess I have to restore the basicdirectory? And this is also possible via phpmyadmin?0 -
Hello, Have you considered contacting your web hosting provider for assistance? They may have a recent backup of the account available, and might be willing to temporarily increase the quota on your account to facilitate the restore. Thank you. 0
