Files Containing SHTE or SHTA wont load 403 error
Hello everyone,
we have a CentOS 7 server with cPanel/WHM and everything was working until last night which suddenly all files such as images or media files containing the phrase "SHTE" or "SHTA" stopped loading and instead they give a 403 error here is a example site we just loaded to test this on a different domain as well:
[Removed]
but if I rename that file and remove the E then it works just fine like so:
[Removed]
renaming both of those files to a file name with shte or shta will throw a 403, and renaming them to any file name that doesn't have shte or shta in it will load the file perfectly fine...
any ideas ?
thanks

also for the files that don't show the browser gives me a 403 error, and apache log file shows a 404 error !! You don't have permission to access /shte.jpg on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request 98.191.110.121 - - [22/Mar/2017:15:31:13 -0700] "GET /shte.jpg HTTP/1.1" 404 - "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0" the files does in fact exists, and if I rename the file to something random then it will load just fine and when I rename it back to shte.jpg then it wont load again, I've tried disabling the firewall, removing the .htaccess file as well but no fix yet. !!! any help is appreciated thanks 0 -
Have a look at this thread, I think it might be related: Apache Forbidden 0 -
