Wordpress htaccess overwritten
Hello
I find the .htaccess file on my website overwritten with a code like this:
AuthType Basic
AuthName "web"
AuthUserFile "/home/user/.htpasswds/public_html/passwd"
require valid-user
The site is made in wordpress, the last version and including a security plugin (ithemes security) that avoid file changes...
What can be happening? Could some plugin make these changes?
Thanks

Hello, The entries you provided are added to the .htaccess file when the "Directory Privacy" feature is enabled in cPanel, or when someone manually adds the entry to password protect the directory. However, the "Directory Privacy" feature should not erase the existing entries in the .htaccess file. I recommend contacting your web hosting provider for additional assistance if that happened on your account and you are unsure of the cause. Thank you. 0
