couldn't open password file /etc/techproxy.shadow
server pam_pwdfile[1179]: couldn't open password file /etc/techproxy.shadow
I think this started appearing in my log files after I had cPanel ticket opened and gave them access to my server, but I'm not sure about that. It continues and I'm just wondering if this is left over from the access they had?
Anything to be concerned about?
Thanks,
Rich

Hello, Could you open a support ticket using the link in my signature so we can take a closer look? You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome. Thank you.0 -

Hello, To update, it was determined the file did not stem from a cPanel support ticket, but rather from the hosting provider. Thank you. 0 -

Hi, could you let me know what the fix is. I'm getting similar messages that are flooding my messages file and my ISP is saying it is because people are trying to log into my site. Here's two types of messages I see every 2 or 3 seconds in my messages file: Dec 8 07:16:43 server PAM-hulk[2890]: failed to connect stream socket Dec 8 07:16:45 server pam_pwdfile[2890]: couldn't open password file /etc/techp Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tommy0 -
Hello, I recommend reaching out to your hosting provider to determine the best approach to solve the issue, as the file is connected with a custom RPM that you'd also need to remove. Thank you. 0 -
