Hello, This error is typically seen due to a setting in the CSF firewall . It might be caused by having the following set: SMTP_BLOCK = 1 SMTP_ALLOWLOCAL = 0 You would need to change SMTP_ALLOWLOCAL to 1 to enable webmail to function. If sill facing issue then try disabling the firewall to see the results.

Hello, Could you attach the image directly to the thread, or let us know us know what method you are using to send email? Also, do you notice any output to /var/log/exim_mainlog when this happens? Thank you.

Sure! I didn't realize we weren't supposed to just paste in images--I attached it to this message. I'm not yet able to check the var/log files, I don't have root SSH access yet.

Hello, You may want to report the issue to your web hosting provider if you do not have root access to the system to take a closer look. Thank you.

I have root access to the system, I just can't get my SSH connection to work (relevant thread: SSH Connection Denied).

Hello, Could you let us know of any output to that log file once the SSH issue is addressed? Thank you.

Hi, I just checked my firewall and it says that SMTP_BLOCK = 0 and SMTP_ALLOWLOCAL = 0. Also, there's a warning at the top that my firewall is "Enabled but stopped." Would that affect it?

This shows the firewall isn't running. You may want to restart the CSF firewall and see if that helps. Thank you.

I restarted CSF and LFD, but it's still saying error -1. In the WHM >> Security Advisor page, there's a green checkmark that says "Outbound SMTP connections are restricted." That would cause this, correct? How do I disable it?

New In the WHM >> Security Advisor page, there's a green checkmark that says "Outbound SMTP connections are restricted." That would cause this, correct? How do I disable it?

That's referring to this option: "WHM >> SMTP Restrictions" This should not prevent Roundcube (or any webmail application) from sending email via SMTP. Feel free to open a support ticket using the link in my signature if you'd like us to take a closer look to see what's happening. Thank you.
