yum not working and php upgrade
A friend of mine rented a cpanel server a long time ago somewhere, but that is still running Centos 5.11 final.
Centos went end of life march 31st, but I thought end of support would be a bit later.
However we got 2 questions now.
1.) If trying to do anything with yum, the following error occurs:
This is probably due to the fact that 5.x went end of life. Is there a way around this or to fix this so we still can use yum to install centos 5 packages? I tried to do a yum clean all and enabling basurl in the Centos-Base.repo but this did not help. 2.) Very soon my friend needs to upgrade from php 5.3 (yeah tool old too) to version 5.6. It this still possible via Easyapache with yum not working anymore? Or is this working some other way and can Easyapache being used like always?

Hello, The following thread will help you update the YUM mirrors on CentOS 5: CentOS, CloudLinux RHEL 5 - End of Life Notice You can't use EasyApache 4 on CentOS 5, however EasyApache 3 will continue to function on the system. Thank you. 0 -
Thank you very much for the quick reply. I change my CentOS-Vault.repo to what the post in the link said and disabled the Base repo. Now yum works again, great! As for EasyApache, we are using EasyApache 3 so we don't need to worry. Now I have to get my friend to update server and os soon. ;) Thank you! Solved! 0 -
