Right way to remove Outlook duplicates?

After searching a lot, I found this - Removed - I've just started using Outlook client on Windows, previously I was a Mac user. Within 4-5 months, my main PST file has been filled with a lot of duplicate items. I've heard about many issues caused by duplicate items. I need some help here. I was looking for a manual procedure to remove Outlook duplicates, I found many 3rd party commercialware tools which can make my work easy. But I don't wanna buy any such software. Finally, I found a blog post (shared above) that has some useful information. But I have no earthly idea whether the information shared in the post is helpful or not. I'm in doubt whether it would work for me or not. If any Outlook professional is here who can check the information shared in the post for me, I would be grateful. Snake-oil merchants should stay away from this thread. No recommendations for paid software. Thanks.
