Hi, It cannot be the virtfs, the reason being it is on /home and it is s separate partition.. Try releasing the space from the unwanted log file. This should be sufficient if those tend to get heavy with disk space utilisation .. 0 -

Ah, good point  Thanks for the advice, please could you explain how, sorry, although i have had a dedi for years, its rare i come across an issue but when i do, sadly i dont know enough to resolve it myself :confused:0 -
Hi, Check the logs in the location: # cd /var/log/ && du -sch * # cd /usr/local/apache/logs && du -sch * # cd /usr/local/cpanel/logs && du -sch * You see the space it is utilizing... 0 -

Hello, The following document is useful when you need to determine what's taking up the space on your server: How to Manage your Hard Drive Space - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation Since /var/tmp is part of the root filesystem on your server, check to see what's taking up the most overall space in the "/" directory and below (outside of your /home partition). Thank you. 0 -

Thanks, heres the outputroot@ns362289 [~]# du -sh /* 34G /backup 8.1M /bin 12M /boot 336K /dev 180K /error_log 34M /etc 52G /home 5.1M /lib 28M /lib64 16K /lost+found 4.0K /media 4.0K /mnt 40M /opt du: cannot access `/proc/26450/task/26450/fd/4': No such file or directory du: cannot access `/proc/26450/task/26450/fdinfo/4': No such file or directory du: cannot access `/proc/26450/fd/4': No such file or directory du: cannot access `/proc/26450/fdinfo/4': No such file or directory 0 /proc 12K /quota.user 4.0K /razor-agent.log 35M /root 27M /sbin 0 /scripts 4.0K /selinux 4.0K /srv 0 /sys 3.1M /tmp 9.0G /usr 1.4G /var
and now this... Sorry for the inconvenience! The filesystem mounted at / on this server is running out of disk space. cPanel operations have been temporarily suspended to prevent something bad from happening. Please ask your system admin to remove any files not in use on that partition. EDIT Looks like its the backups that are taking up the space, i had them at /backups/ so i deleted some of them and it let me back in to cpanel, I thought that having them there would have just used up what ever space that was free on the drive evidently not, so i have moved them to /home/backups/ in the hope that that will suffice.....0 -
Hello, You may also want to consider storing backups on a remote server, or adding a new drive to the server for backup storage. Storing backups on the /home partition is discouraged and can prevent quotas from working properly. Thank you. 0 -
Hi, sorry for the late reply.. It looks like i can only have it set to a remote server as a secondary backup place only not as a primary Adding a new disk is not an option :( Oh, wait, i have just had another look, please let me know if i go wrong here? 1). If i set backup DIR to /home/backup/ 2). Backup transfer to another server 3). Have Retain backups in the default backup directory. Would that still mess with the quotas? or do i need to put the backup back to /backup and have the backups removed after transfer? thus saving on that partition space? 0 -

You can uncheck "Retain backups in the default backup directory." and the backups will only remain stored on the remote destination.Oh, wait, i have just had another look, please let me know if i go wrong here? 1). I recommend choosing the local directory with the most disk space, and then disabling the "Retain backups in the default backup directory." option. This will help ensure the local backups are successfully generated before the archives are moved to the remote destination. Once the transfer to the remote destination completes, the backups are then removed from the local directory (e.g. /backup). Thank you.0 -
Thank you, all makes sense now :) 0
